This is a dead horse. I hope you don't find me to be completely biased against religion. If you get to know me, you will find that I have more faith than most religious people- I just don't know what it is that is out there. But this is entirely a matter of metaphysics, outside this slight rant and presentation of a few articles.
Science is
There is nothing about creationism that is science. It has no verifiable evidence that justifies its hypotheses about reality. Yet one in eight biology teachers teach creationism and Intelligent Design as an alternative to his theory (2). ID / creationism is not a viable theory, therefore how can these be biology teachers have studied science yet have forgotten that definition above?
However, this opens a wonderful door. I was never a fan of the Judeo-Christian God, and am myself a Pastafarian. Can I get a "Raman!" Your sarcasm spidey-sense should be tingling by now. What makes the Flying Spaghetti Monster theory of creation so much fun is that it has testifiable statistics that show a strong correlation that the FSM has influenced the world with his noodily appendage. (3) Now if you have every once taken a statistics class you will know that statistics is a mathematical branch of sheer nothingness. The first thing ever drilled into my notebook was, "Correlation does not equate causality." That statement should be obvious.
So without anything more- our solutions to this wonderful problem. Either
- Stop teaching creationism in a science class. Leave it in a philosophy / religions of the world class (that I strongly feel should be taught to every school child); or
- In addition to creationism, school teachers have to teach all [religously based] alternatives to Darwin's theory of evolution, regardless if the biology teachers agree with them or not.
Now the articles that bring about this rant.
